It’s time to think about helping a neighbor, Verona.
Dan Gleeson was a young father in Glen Ridge who died unexpectedly from coronary heart disease last year, leaving behind four young children and a wife who has a sister in Verona. This Saturday, June 11, the Glen Ridge Athletic Association will turn its annual picnic into the Danny Gleeson Memorial Picnic, with all proceeds to benefit the Gleeson Family Scholarship Fund and the Glen Ridge High School Dan Gleeson Memorial Scholarship.
The picnic will run, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hurrell Field in Glen Ridge. There will be kids’ attractions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., live music by The B-Street Band from 4 to 8 p.m., and raffles and auctions all day long.
You can buy a ticket for just the mid-day part of the event ($10 for all ages, includes food/soft drinks and events) or the late afternoon/evening music ($25 for all ages, cash beer and wine bar). There is also a family ticket, which is priced at $75 and covers four or more immediate family members, and is good for both day and night time events.
For information, see the event’s Web site or call Jim Cowan at 973-748-2924.
