Majestic Flair flew into Verona under the radar: It’s been here since winter, but the weather kept me from noticing.

On February 16, Majestic Flair opened its doors to Verona residents. I remember a very snowy and cold February and March and know those things kept me indoors. This new clothing store in town  is named for the majestic feeling of taking pride in what you wear and the love of putting things together with flair. Valerie Haynes, the owner of Majestic Flair, is a Verona resident and felt that a store on the Avenue was the best venue for her latest business venture. With a history of working with clothing in Montclair, her move to Verona was a natural one.

Haynes is not operating the store alone. She’s joined by her daughter, Renate Haynes-Ellington, who has previous experience with her own clothing store in Montclair. Working together this mother daughter team has put together an inviting store with a range of clothing inventory.

The store is set up as a thrift store with most of the inventory coming directly from New York City. Many of the items are vintage, featuring brands like Coach, Hollister, True Religion, and Guess. The sizes are from 0-12 with an inventory including clothing, shoes and some accessories. The clothing style is day wear, casual wear and evening wear. Haynes’ goal with the store is to “fit people’s pocket” during this recession, so nothing is priced over $40. And if you’re thinking of following Glee’s Rachel and Mercedes “Prom on a Budget” theme, this may be the store for you.

Majestic Flair is located at 292 Bloomfield Avenue, on the north side of the street between Hillcrest Terrace and Malvern Place. Store hours are from noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It’s at just the right location to take a peek while walking in or watching the parade Memorial Day Weekend.
