The First Presbyterian Church will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Charlotte Cunningham’s tenure as Director of Music Ministry on Sunday, June 5, following worship at 11:30 a.m. A coffee hour reception for Mrs. Cunningham is being planned along with presentations and slide show. The community is invited to join in the celebration.
Cunningham guides the church’s music ministry, plans worship service music, directs the church’s adult choir, the Praise Choir, children’s hand bell choir, and band of guitars, plays the organ, accompanies guest musicians and much more.
Cunningham began at First Presbyterian Church in June 1971, replacing Dorothy Pfeifer who had retired. Cunningham had previously been music director at the Roseland Presbyterian Church for 10 years. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music. She also received a Masters of Music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
First Presbyterian Church is at the corner of Fairview and Bloomfield avenues. Parking is available by the back door and the building is handicap accessible. Childcare is available.
We all love you so much Mom and are so proud of you! I have no idea how you find the energy to keep going year after year. You are amazing!!
