Patrolman Joel Martin manned Verona’s collection site on Saturday, April 30, for Operation Take Back New Jersey. Verona’s participation in the program resulted in more than two full bags, weighing 63 pounds. That handily beat last year’s record of 50 pounds. The goal of Operation Take Back New Jersey is to take expired or unused drugs out of medicine cabinets, where they might cause problems that could lead to trips to the emergency room. It also ensures that medicines will be disposed of in an environmentally sound way.
