Twenty teens from the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Verona and St. James Church in Montclair hope to raise $8,000 for starving children through a group fast this weekend.

The 30 Hour Famine will begin at noon on Friday, April 8, and end at 6 p.m. on April 9. Among the Verona teens participating are Rachel Blasi-Blinder, Christina Carlucci, Matt Carroll, Joanna Eliasof, Lucas Freschi, Lily Posner, Shannon Garner, Troy Locatell and Madeline Pensiero. They will be on a juice fast for 30 hours overnight at Holy Spirit, spending their time in numerous activities including a midnight Prayer Walk, a “can shake” at Foodtown on Friday night and serving at Christine’s Kitchen in West Orange on Saturday morning.

Each of the teens is looking to raise $360, which is enough to feed one child for a year. If you would like to help, you can make a secure donation online by clicking here.
