It’s budget season, and if you want to get a first look at the municipal numbers, you should come to the special presentation that’s being held tonight, Tuesday, March 22. This is a workshop for the Town Council, and it will be held in the Council chambers beginning at 7 p.m. The Council will hear from the Police Department, Buildings and Grounds, Building Inspections and the Verona Public Library.
On Thursday, March 24, you can sit in on a meeting of the Citizens Budget Review Committee, which has been learning about different aspects of Verona’s budget since it was convened early this year. The Committee will hear from the Public Works and Sewer and Water departments. This meeting will also be held in the Council chambers at 600 Bloomfield Avenue on the second floor, and also starts at 7 p.m.
Verona’s budget is far from final, however. Town Manager Joe Martin stressed at last night’s regular Council meeting that Verona is still waiting on budget determinations from Trenton, which we likely won’t get until late April. Verona will be putting the last three years of budgets on the town Web site soon so that citizens can better study the numbers.
