Verona residents on Oakridge Road and several adjoining streets are without power tonight after a tree fell near the intersection of Oakridge and Bloomfield Avenue. Verona Police Captain Mitchell Stern says PSE&G crews are on the scene, but it could take several hours to get the power back on. The Verona Community Center is not affected.

So, Madison has a private contract with PSEG, and lo and behold! They got priority power restoration after this storm. 100% back in a day. Does that strike anyone else as just completely wrong? I have driven all over Essex County since the day after this storm and seen maybe ONE PSEG truck in over 7 towns. I am intelligent enough to understand the magnitude of this storm. I am also compassionate enough to realize what happened to our town pales by comparison to the shore, Little Ferry, etc. Here’s the thing, half my condo complex has power and never lost it. My half and north of it, nothing. No trees down in the surrounding blocks. What is the deal? It seems our parking lot is the dividing line, north to south, of power outage. I haven’t seen nearly the level of trees down as in the freak snow storm of October last year. Where are the PSEG trucks?
