As Verona’s spring activities get underway, you may be wondering what to do if your child doesn’t quite fit the age, time or offerings from the Verona Recreation Department. My own kids have participated in various classes from tennis to t-ball to musical theater over the years and as often happens with kids, their interests change and they want to try new things.
This spring, there are some new creative arts and performing arts classes being offered by the YMCA. Although the Y is located in neighboring Montclair, they do support sports, camp, and after care programs for the surrounding towns of Verona, Cedar Grove, Bloomfield and Glen Ridge. Among the programs being offered this spring at the Geyer Family Center Y (for elementary school aged children) are classes such as Hip Hop Dance, Making Clothes for Your American Girl Doll, Daring Experiments for the Young Scientist, Dino-Mite Dinners and Designing Cupcakes. Registration is still underway for the Spring I session and there are openings in many of these classes. Classes start next week. Please call the YMCA Family Center for more information at (973) 415-6105 or email Cynthia Garcia: [email protected].
