The Board of Education has approved the calendar for the 2011-2012 school year. School resumes after summer vacation on September 7, and we once again have a full week for February break. Between the half days and full days off, November is the usual wash. The full calendar is here.

  1. It’s great to have the calendar available so early. Good point on the month of November- it is a wash, and brings me to a question. What are professional development days and why do they require a half day? If they are days of training, why not hold them during teacher’s convention or the day before convention or after school? Additionally, I often hear from my kids that they have had a substitute teacher because of a workshop during school hours.
