The Christian Education Committee of The First Presbyterian Church in Verona has announced what it says is the first ever Lego Invitational on a Bible theme. It is asking Lego fans to create a Lego display based on a Biblical theme and share it with the congregation on Sunday March 7 during coffee hour after church, around 11:30 a.m. The church says that, because there are no prizes–“only the satisfaction of sharing your imagination run amuck”–there are no rules.
The committee was prompted to invite Lego creations when they discovered that Pastor Erik Spencer was a devoted Lego fan. “It began innocently enough with a castle set for the kids at Christmas,” the pastor says. “The castle grew, the kids grew up, but the mania remained.”
“I’m excited to see what others will create,” he added. “I’ve got some ideas of my own.”
First Presbyterian is located at 10 Fairview Avenue, by the corner of Bloomfield Ave. Child care is available during worship, the building is handicap accessible, a sound enhancement system is available, and visitor parking is by the back door. All are invited.
