It was another flawless night for the Verona-Glen Ridge Hockey team, as they beat Millburn in a 4-0 win. This was the two teams’ second meeting this season. The last time, Millburn was at the short end of a 9-2 score.
The first goal of the night came from Verona senior Rob Serafino. It was a shorthanded breakaway that started the night for VGR.
Later in the first, co-captain Alekos Polis of Glen Ridge had a goal. Junior Matt Lander, also of Glen Ridge had two goals in the third period, and an assist on the Polis goal. Rocky Guidicipietro of Verona had an assist on one of the Lander goals.
Matt Brehne had another picture perfect night stopping Millburn’s 22 shots and getting his second shut-out in a row and third of the season.
VGR had 36 shots on the night. Their next game will be played Wednesday, January 26 (snow permitting!) at Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair against Montclair Kimberley Academy, who they beat 10-3 in the previous match-up between the two. The start time is 6:30 p.m.
