Many Verona families turned out at the Clary Anderson Rink in Montclair this past Saturday to skate a raise some money for the Verona-Glen Ridge Hockey team.

“It was a tremendous success,” said Coach Andor Kish. “The event was bigger than ever and it was great to see many of the families who came to the event come to the high school game that night versus West Essex.” A game that saw VGR beat West Essex 4-1 for first place in the NJIHL-Central.

Sales of snacks and team apparel raised a lot of cash for the team, and that could prove crucial down the road. “Because of the event,” said Kish, “we will be able to purchase some more ice time come playoff time.” Weather permitting, the team squares off against Montclair at 6:45 p.m. at the Codey Arena in West Orange.

We got some photos of the family skate afternoon thanks to John Timmons and Tara Imbriano. Enjoy!
