Verona resident Marie Ben-Israel and her family attend Temple Bnai Keshet in Montclair. She is also a self-proclaimed Dead Head and she’s sent news of a Dead-inspired event at the synagogue this Friday, January 21.
There’s going to be a 90-minute program on the music of Jerry Garcia without the rest of the band, from his early bluegrass roots to his jazz explorations, his spirituals and his acoustic band, as well as his duets with Dave Grisman. The program is being conducted by Bnai Keshet member Michael Hotz, who Ben-Israel says has collected many concert recordings by the Grateful Dead.
The program will follow the Kabbalat Keshet Musical Service at 6:30 p.m. and should start around 8 p.m. Bnai Keshet is located at 99 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair.
