Trenton Delays Contract In District That May Hire Sampson

It’s been more than a month since we learned that Verona School Superintendent Charles Sampson was one of two finalists for a new job at the Freehold Regional High School District. The Monmouth County district said on November 29 that it had made its choice, but would not announce it until contract review had taken place. Now, a report in Lehigh Valley Live, which covers the Hackettstown district that is home to Sampson’s competitor for the job, says the review is being held up by Trenton.

The paper’s Web site says the Monmouth County Executive Superintendent’s Office can’t sign off on the contract until the state Department of Education completes a review of all superintendent contract agreements statewide.
