Miele’s Italian Restaurant has anchored the western end of Bloomfield Avenue in Verona since 1954, so you think people would have had a chance to memorize its decor by now. You’d think it wouldn’t have taken them four days to figure out the location of week 21 of the Where In Verona contest.
It could be that Fred Goode’s photos (see the full slideshow below) were really that baffling. It could also be that Miele’s patrons are so anxious to get in and eat everything on its traditional Italian menu that they don’t notice the brass door plate or the glass with the gondolier’s hat etched into it.
It was the ceramic tile photo on Thursday that tipped off Len Waterman, who has lived in Verona almost as long as Miele’s has been here. Len works for the town, doing maintenance on all town buildings and Verona Pool. And yes, he is a customer at Miele’s. If you’re thinking of being one too, you should know that entrees at Miele’s are just $9.95 midweek on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
