Verona has lots of holiday traditions, but one of the best is the day that Santa tours the town on a fire truck, courtesy of the Verona Fire Department. It’s going to be this Sunday, December 19, starting at 11 a.m. We strong-armed one of the elves, who divulged that there will actually be four Santas out on four trucks, each in a different corner of town. The route each will take remains top secret, so use our Facebook page to give us your Santa sighting.
We were lucky enough to see Santa several times yesterday. He was on Otsego Road around 11:45 AM. Then on our way back from Caldwell we caught him turning from Claremont to Malvern. My son insisted we follow. We did and eventually passed him, making a left onto Bloomfield at the light. Heading up Bloomfield towards Montclair, miraculously, we saw Santa yet again, as he and his yellow firetruck backed into the firehouse. As my son pointed out, Santa is pretty darned fast (getting from Malvern to Bloomfield in under a minute — and managing to get into a different colored firetruck too).
Thanks to the Verona Fire Department for making yet another holiday season magical!
