Obituaries: Elizabeth Hanlon Beyers

Elizabeth (Betty) Hanlon Beyers, (nee McOmish) 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at her home surrounded by family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Betty came to the United States in 1964 and lived in Verona most of her life.

Betty worked for A&P in Upper Montclair as a Manager and retired in 2008.

She was predeceased by her first husband Daniel Hanlon in 1991, her daughter Cathie Hanlon in 2005, her grandson Daniel Andrew Hanlon in 2009, her parents Mary & William McOmish of Scotland, a brother Billy McOmish of Scotland, a brother Robert McOmish of Montclair, a sister Susan Shields of England and a niece Sharon Russell of England.

Surviving are her former husband Bill Beyers, two daughters, Christine Carunchio and her husband Rich of Union Beach, N.J., Colleen Colatrella and her husband Brian of Wharton, N.J., three sons, Daniel Hanlon and his wife Keri of Mine Hill, N.J., Brian Hanlon and Billy Beyers of Verona. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Erin, Richie, Catherine Rose, Piper and Nicholas, two sisters, Isabel Russell and Rita Logan, both of England, her sisters-in-laws Linda McOmish of Montclair, Barbara Theis of Washington Township, her brother-in-law Robert Beyers and lots of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona, on Thursday, December 16 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m
