Obituaries: Sr. M. Joyce Vincent

Sr. M. Joyce Vincent, O.P. died on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center, Caldwell. She was 84.

A funeral mass will be offered in St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell on Friday, December 10 at 10 a.m. Visiting in St. Catherine of Siena Convent, 7 Ryerson Avenue (Mt. St. Dominic) Caldwell on Thursday 4 to 8 p.m.

Born in Orange, Sr. Joyce lived in Verona and entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell on February 2, 1954 and professed vows September 7, 1955. Sister has a BA in History from Caldwell College and an MA in Administration from Fairfield University.

Sr. Joyce taught elementary grades at St. Brigid School in North Bergen, St. Philip School in Clifton, St. Michael School in Union, St. Catherine School in Elizabeth, Mt. St. Dominic Grade School in Caldwell and St. Virgil School in Morris Plains. She served as Principal at Our Lady of Sorrows School in Garfield, St. Aloysius School in Caldwell, taught grade school and served as Superior at St. Francis de Sales in Abaco, Bahamas.

In 1985 Sr. Joyce became the Resident Manager of Marian Manor in Caldwell.

Sr. Joyce is the daughter of the late Margaret Peter Vincent and is the sister of Lorraine Feeney, Vivian DaRoja, Dolores DeFoe, Roger Vincent, Peter Vincent, the late Gloria ‘Cookie’ Caponigro, the late Raymond Vincent, Sr., the late Jesse Vincent and the late Richard Peter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations to the Sisters of St. Dominic, One Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell NJ 07006 would be appreciated.
