The students from Congregation Beth Ahm of West Essex in Verona light the Chanukah Menorah with the help of Rabbi Aaron Kriegel, Cantor Marsha Schreier and Sarah Kriegel. Pictured are Jack Brandt (Verona), Alex Seidenberg (Montclair), Sarah Kriegel (teacher), Leah Bachenheimer (Roseland), Ben Beinish (Montclair), Cantor Marsha Schreier, Matthew Savloff (Caldwell), Bethany Brooks (Caldwell), Daniel Shapiro (Caldwell), Rabbi Kriegel, Emily Shapiro (Caldwell) and Lindsey Brooks (Caldwell).

Rabbi Kriegel would like to remind us all that Chanukah is celebrated for eight days by Jews all over the world in remembrance of the first battle for religious rights ever fought. “This Jewish Festival of Lights,” he adds, “celebrates the idea of religious freedom, which certainly needs support in the troubled time of the 21st century.”

The final night of Chanukah is Wednesday, December 8.
