We have a new movie option. AMC Theatres has finished the makeover of the AMC Essex Green 9 in West Orange that has turned it into a movie theater with restaurants and a bar inside.
Here’s how it’s supposed to work. Four theaters, dubbed Cinema Suites, will have upscale dining and spacious, reserved seating. You’ve got to be 21 to eat/watch in this theater. Five other theaters, called Fork & Screen, will have more casual food. Again it’s all reserved seating, but for this one you either have to be at least 18 or accompanied by an adult. Outside the auditoriums there is a bar called MacGuffins, with beer, wine, cocktails, appetizers and desserts. Guests must be 18 or older, or accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 21.
None of this is going to be cheap. The new prices at AMC Essex Green are $10 for an adult ticket plus a $15 “experience charge” for Cinema Suites or a $10 extra charge for Fork & Screen. Those charges are deducted from the meal you buy. AMC blanketed much of Verona with door hangers today that offer buy one/get one tickets (good Sunday to Thursday) or a free appetizer/dessert when you buy an entree.
If you get there before we do, let us know what it’s like, OK?
