The Verona Lacrosse League has opened online registration for its spring 2011 youth league.
The program is open to kids in kindergarten through eighth grade, and the season runs from March to early June. This year’s registration also includes indoor practice sessions in Montclair that will begin in January, and meet once a week until the outdoor season begins.
For all children in grades K, 1 and 2, the program is a clinic held on Saturday afternoons for 1 hour. The 2011 program will offer experienced second grade boys the option to play up with third graders in modified game situations with full equipment.
Third and fourth graders have separate girls and boys teams that typically play eight to 10 modified games against teams from nearby towns, and practice about twice a week. Competitive teams for those in grades 5 and 6, as well as 7 and 8 (also gender specific) typically participate in 12 to 14 games against teams from nearby towns; practices are usually 2 or 3 times a week.
The fees range from $60 per player in the lowest grades to $200 for seventh and eighth grade boys, and there is a family discount for three or more players from the same household.
You can register and pay online at the League’s Web site. If you want to get involved with the League as a volunteer or coach, contact Rudy Frizzi at 973-571-1982.
