Verona beat North Haledon in the first round 12-4, then Totowa 6-0 in the second round and played a near perfect championship game to beat a powerful South Orange/Maplewood team 6-0. The game was 1-0 going into the 5th until Verona broke the game open with some timely hitting. Ian Metzger and Micheal Daggett both pitched terrific and they combined to pitch a one-hit shutout. The entire Verona defense played an outstanding game to secure the shutout.
Verona finished the season at 11-2 and won nine straight games to finish off the season. The league consisted of teams with players as old as 6th grade and the league was a 50-70 league with leading and stealing. Verona was the only team in the league to have a roster of only 5th grade boys.
