Obituaries: Filomena Marchese

Mrs. Filomena Marchese, 95, passed away on October 16, 2010 in Cedar Grove.

Services will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Saturday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Marchese lived in East Orange before moving to Verona in 1969. She worked in the garment industry until her retirement and was a member of the ILGWU, Local 135. She was an active member of the RSVP senior citizen organization in Verona and an avid Bingo player. Her passion for Bingo continued throughout her entire life. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who referred to her as Nana or Gramsy. She loved her family dearly and they were most important to her. She will be greatly missed. Sleep peacefully Mom.

Mrs. Marchese is the wife of the late Vincent, the mother of Elaine Holenko and her husband Alex and Robert and his wife Helene and the sister of Margaret Sturchio and Joseph Chieppa. She is also survived by her grandchildren John Holenko and his wife Hazel Ketchum, Lisa Holenko and her husband Douglas Robinson, Alex Holenko and his wife Monique, Amy Stevenson and her husband David, Robert Marchese and his wife Allison and Eric Padegimas, as well and 8 great grandchildren, Valerie, Althea, Jeni, Anneliese, Collin, Jeremy, Morgan and Robbie.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
