There are only a few hours to go until the big Oktoberfest at Our Lady of the Lake this Saturday. Church volunteers are pulling the final details together and Maria Carrozza of Mardi Gras Fine Foods, who is one of the vendors donating food for the event, is getting ready to give attendees a taste of Thanksgiving in October.
She’s going to be serving turkey breast with all the trimmings: country pan gravy, sausage chestnut stuffing, porcini mushroom stuffing, whipped sweet potatoes and Idaho potatoes, cranberry orange relish, pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie. “The idea is to give everyone a sample of what we can do for Thanksgiving,” Carrozza says. Her full holiday menu is on her Web site.
OLL says that there are still some individual tickets available for Oktoberfest. The fun runs from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. and costs $60 per person for a lot of food, drink and entertainment. One catch: You must be 21 or older to attend. See all the details on the church’s Web site.
