Dana Visentin is calling this contest “Don’t Get Smashed”. Visentin, who is the Verona Recreation Department’s volunteer coordinator for teen activities, is holding a pumpkin carving contest for kids in grades 5 through 8 on Thursday, October 28, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Verona Community Center gym.
The competition is limited to 36 contestants, so if your child wants to compete, you must register him or her through the Rec Department’s online system ASAP.
Prizes will be given in two age groups, 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade, in three categories– scariest, funniest and most original. Pumpkins and safe carving tools will be provided. All contestants will have two hours to complete their pumpkins. Visentin says spectators are welcome, too!
