County, Union Sign Contract Limiting Raises

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. (left) and CWA Local 1081 President David Weiner (right) signed a new three-year labor agreement for 2008 to 2010 on Friday, October 1st. The contract provides employees 1.5% salary increases in 2008 and 2009 and no increase in 2010. In addition, employees will pay a higher prescription drug co-payment. There are 26 unions representing Essex County employees and CWA Local 1081 is the first union to reach a settlement since all the contracts expired on December 31, 2007.
