Verona-based dermatologist Robert Nossa will be in Hawaii next weekend, competing in the 2010 Ford World Ironman Championship . Dr. Nossa, who practices at The Dermatology Group on Pompton Avenue, is partnering with the Skin Cancer Foundation to raise money to support the Foundation’s community awareness about skin cancer prevention.

“It is an amazing opportunity to partner with the Skin Cancer Foundation and The Ironman Foundation” Nossa says. “It is not uncommon for athletes to come into the office that are in excellent physical shape, but that have overlooked the health of their skin. It is through this amazing event that I hope to send the message that skin cancer prevention is as important as the exercise regimen.”

Some 2,000 athletes from around the world will be competing in the  140.6 mile triathlon. The competition includes 2.4 miles of ocean swimming, 112 miles of biking, and a 26.2 mile marathon.
