Liberty Mutual, the Boston-based insurance giant, has run some smart programs over the years to strengthen communities across the U.S. The latest, a fire safety campaign, could also help the Verona Fire Department win $10,000. All you have to do is take a quick quiz.

The Be Fire Smart quiz will test your knowledge of fire prevention–all the stuff you drill the kids in every week. Take it, and be sure to tell the computer that you are playing for the Verona Fire Department. Liberty Mutual will give the VFD one point for every person who takes the quiz and the department with the most points when the contest ends on October 31 stands to win the big prize.

We’ve got some catching up to do if Verona is going to win, though. As of last night, the top point earner in the medium-sized town division was the Midwest City Fire Department in Midwest City, Okla., with 782 points.

The link to the quiz is here. Get going!
