Obituaries: Robert G. Neff

Mr. Robert G. Neff, 80, died on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Glen Ridge.

A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Wednesday, September 29, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Born in Newark, Mr. Neff grew up in South Orange and lived in Montclair prior to moving to Verona in 1965. He has a bachelors from Maryknoll College and a masters from Montclair State University.

Mr. Neff worked at Verona High School for 30 years, where he taught Latin & English and served as a guidance counselor. He retired in 1989.

He was an usher at the 10:30 Mass in Our Lady of the Lake Church, is a former president of the Verona Education Association, former president of the Essex County Education Association and a former member of the Executive Committee of the NJEA.

He is predeceased by his parents, Walter & Irene (Cagney) Neff, his brothers Walter & Paul and his sister Nadine McNally.

Mr. Neff is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth (Waldron) Neff, his children Robert Neff, Jr., and his wife Lynda, Mary Dubois and her husband Robert, Thomas Neff and his wife Susan, and Brian Neff and his wife Cecelia and his brother Frederick. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Alexanne, Matthew, Cara, Rachel, Eli, Bobby, Michael along with many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
