Cathy Jackson’s children take dance and African drumming class at the Montclair Academy of Dance and Laboratory of Music, and love it. So the Verona mom wrote to let us know that the Academy is hosting an open house on Sunday, September 26, at two locations: its studio at the First Congregational Church in Montclair (noon-2 p.m.) and Montclair Community Pre-K (3-4:30p.m.).
The Academy was founded by jazz bassist Reggie Workman and artistic director Maya Milenovic Workman over 10 years ago. Its classes now include pre-ballet, ballet, modern, dance theatre and drumming, and there’s a full schedule on its Web site. Children, teens and adults can take a free trial class during the first two weeks of the semester, from now through October 1.
