The Newark Museum is marking East Asia’s traditional Harvest Moon celebration with a day of family-friendly events on Saturday, September 25 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. There will be activities, story-telling, performances and food, such as the traditional moon cakes. The museum’s astronomer will be on hand to tell visitors about the phases of the moon.
There will be entertainment by Sounds of Korea, part of the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Association, as well as the Celadon Youth Music Ensemble and Theatrical Group and the Huxia Edison Dance Troupe.
Visitors can also tour the museum’s new gallery installation, Red Luster: Lacquer & Leatherworks of Asia. It is the first exhibition that demonstrates the aesthetic impact of red lacquer and its imitators.
