
Mr. John F. Landgraf, 96, died on August 25, 2010 in Glen Ridge.
Services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, Fairview Avenue at Bloomfield Avenue on Saturday August 28 at 9:30 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Born in Bath, N.Y., Mr. Landgraf lived in Verona for 16 years prior to moving to Caldwell 43 years ago. He has a bachelor’s degree from New York University and a master’s degree from Columbia University. Mr. Landgraf is a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Lieutenant from 1942 to 1945 in the Aleutian Islands. He was a business teacher at Montclair High School for 26 years and a member of the NJEA.
An accomplished musician playing both the baritone horn and tuba, he was a member of the Bloomfield Civic Band, Montclair Community Band and the Garden State Concert Band.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn K. Landgraf, his daughters, Carynn Elizabeth Kelley and Lorinda Cherry and his grandson Zachary Alvey.
