Essex Green Movie Theater Closing

Share post:

Verona’s movie options are narrowing again. We lost Cinema 23 in Cedar Grove in May, and now the AMC Essex Green in West Orange will be going dark as well after the last movie on Sunday, August 8.

This closure will only be for three months, however. AMC Entertainment has issued a press release saying that the complex will be undergoing a makeover to turn it into a so-called Fork & Screen theater. What that means, dear friends, is that you will now be able to eat something more than just popcorn while the movie is playing. The chain is planning both a casual and an upscale restaurant, as well a bar and lounge area.
