Birdwatchers can close out July with a hike next Saturday, Saturday, July 31, in West Caldwell’s Hatfield Swamp. The trek, which is organized by the New Jersey Audubon Society, will take you through an area that has many of the best breeding birds in Essex County. The cost is $6 for NJAS members and $8 for non-members, but space is limited so call Kelly Wenzel at 973-226-6082 for more information and to register. Participants should bring bug repellent and meet at 8 a.m. in the Kings parking lot in West Caldwell.
