Bloomfield Avenue Delays Today

Bloomfield Avenue is one long traffic jam this Tuesday morning in our end of Essex County.

It seems that any utility or contractor that needs access to anything under the roadway is trying to get that access now before the new paving goes on top. So find an alternative to get from east or west if you can, or load up the iPod before you go out.

UPDATE: Verona Police Captain Fred DiStefano says this should be the worst day of the resurfacing work. “Anything west of Verona is done,” he says of the paving crews, “and they are coming into Verona tonight.” They will pave the eastbound side of Bloomfield Avenue first. How fast they get that done and move on to the westbound side depends on the weather and manhole repairs. But DiStefano says the should “absolutely be done” by next week.
