There are classes for the pre-school crowd and their older siblings on Thursday.

First up is a program called “Garden Hideaway”, which aims to teach children ages 3½ to 5 how to create a habitat for bugs, butterflies and birds using sunflower and morning glory seeds. The kids will also get to take some seeds home to grow the flowers. It’s all at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland at 10:30 a.m. and costs $12 per child.

At 3 p.m., it’s time for “Peter Rabbit Garden” a program for children ages 4 to 6. Participants will plant their own garden and see if Peter returns with his friends to nibble on the vegetables. The kids also get to take home a little garden! The fee for this is $12 as well.

Call the Center at 973-228-8776 to register for either class.
