We have to confess that we didn’t know that there were beekeepers in Essex County, let alone enough of them to form a club.

But the Essex County Beekeepers Association is holding a seminar on honey bee basics on Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland. The program will focus on the organization of the hive, including the duties of the queen, worker and drone bees.

The class costs $10, but is free for ECBA members. To register, call 973-228-8776 .
