Caroline Brenneis was on fire Saturday, scoring 5 goals for the Verona Girls’ Lacrosse team in a game against the Morristown-Beard School.
But though there was high scoring across the board from the Verona team and good defense, it was not enough to defeat Mo-Beard. The opening round of the state playoffs ended with a 19-15 loss for Verona, which had gone into the match seeded 10th to Mo-Beard’s 7th.
In addition to Brenneis, Julieanne Mascera delivered another 4 goals for Verona, followed by DonnaJo DiNorcia with 3 goals and 1 assist, Emily Fitzpatrick with 2 goals, and Casie Milmoe with 1 goal. Paige Zebrowski and Shannon Curran had 2 assists each. Melanie McClellan had 11 saves.
And as the season draws to a close, it was time for a Senior Day photo. Senior Tedi Rosenstein was sidelined on Saturday after breaking her ankle in the 20-14 win over Montclair Kimberley Academy last Wednesday.
