The NJSIAA, New Jersey’s governing body for high school athletics, has released the pairings for the state tournament in girls lacrosse. Verona’s team, which is coming off a strong win over Montclair Kimberley on Wednesday at home, will face Morristown-Beard on Saturday at that school. Verona Girls’ Lacrosse is currently seeded tenth in its group, while Mo-Beard is 7th.
That may make for a tough match-up, but Verona can for the moment savor a 20-14 victory over MKA that saw four VHS players each score four goals: Julieanne Mascera, Emily Fitzpatrick, DonnaJo DiNorcia and Caroline Brenneis. Paige Zebrowski had two goals and two assists; Casie Milmoe also had two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Melanie McClellan had 9 saves.
