Fun, Victorian-Style

Share post:

Turn back the clocks on Saturday, May 15. Not for daylight savings time, but for a day of antique fun in Montclair’s Anderson Park.

From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Friends of Anderson Park and Essex County will host a free event that will re-create some of the recreation activities that were popular in 1905 when Anderson Park opened. The event will include Victorian lawn games such as badminton, croquet, graces and quoits, antique bicycles and tricycles, music, and, of course, lemonade and cookies. Anderson Park was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

If a rain date is needed (and it doesn’t look now as if it will be) it’s Sunday, May 16. For more information, see the Friends Of Anderson Park Web site.
