Census Takers In Town This Week

If you never filled out your 2010 census form that arrived in the mail back in March, like about 20 percent of Verona residents, you should expect to be visited by a census taker this week. According to Township Manager Joe Martin, census workers are required to show I.D. and are not permitted to enter your residence. This year there are only 20 questions so the process shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Keep in mind that cooperating with the census is important because it determines how many seats New Jersey gets in Congress, what the legislative district boundaries are, and  how many dollars of federal government spending will come back to Verona. The state of New Jersey has created a 2010 Census Web site with answers to commonly asked questions.
