Spring cleaning at the park this year has also meant clearing out all the old wooden benches and replacing them with durable, comfortable new seats. There are also new trash receptacles. According to Marv Friedman, chairman of the Verona Park Conservancy (VPC), funding for the spruce-up is courtesy of the last grant the VPC received from the state’s Green Acres program, and was matched by Essex County.
