Mr. Joseph T. Parisi, Jr., 84, died on Wednesday April 14, 2010 in Livingston.
A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, on Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Born in Newark, Mr. Parisi lived in Irvington, East Orange and Verona prior to moving to West Orange in 2000. He was a radiology technician at United Hospitals in Newark for 25 years, retiring in 1986.
He was captain of the East Orange High School Championship Fencing team and received a scholarship to Seton Hall University, but was unable to take advantage of it because of the war. He entered the Army in 1943 and was involved in the Normandy invasion and the liberation of Paris, receiving the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He was a member of VFW Post 6255 in Cedar Grove. He also served as vice president of the Residents Council and was very active in the Saturday Game Night of the Green Hill Center in West Orange.
Mr. Parisi is the husband of the late Mary T. Parisi, the father of Mary Carobene and Kathleen Weber and the grandfather of Lauren Wulff and the late Karl Weber.
