The baseball and softball teams both took on Mountain Lakes yesterday and both came up a run short.  The boys’ struggles at the plate continued and they lost another close game 3-2 dropping them to 1-6 on the season.  Nick Grasso pitched well in the losing effort while Anthony Oranges and Alex Eliasof had two hits apiece.

While the girls put more runs on the board than the boys, it still wasn’t enough.  Verona was leading 9-8 heading into the seventh inning before surrendering 2 runs that proved to be the difference in the 10-9 final.  Stephanie Colon knocked in three runs for the Hillbillies.  The girls are currently 2-2 and take on West Orange this afternoon.
