There was lots of action for the Hillbillies yesterday. Here’s a brief recap:
- The Softball team got its second victory of the season by defeatingColumbia 5-3. Marissa Manley went 6 1/3 innings earning herself the win for the Hillbillies. Theresa Lau propelled the offense, knocking in 2 runs, scoring 2 runs, and hitting 2 doubles.
- Girls’ Lacrosse won a thriller against Essex County Rival Caldwell by a score of 14-13. Verona erased an 8-6 halftime deficit by scoring 8 times in the 2nd half. DonnaJo DiNorcia added 4 goals while Casie Milmoe and Julieanne Mascera each found the back of the net 3 times. Melanie McClellan had 16 saves in the win.
- The bats still haven’t woken up for the Baseball team, which dropped a heartbreaker 2-1 to Caldwell. As has been a theme so far early in the season, the boys got a great effort on the mound from Connor Carr but could not push very many runs across. Anthony Oranges knocked in the lone run for Verona with 2 outs in the seventh inning.

- The Tennis team improved to 4-2 with a win over Whippany Park. Paul Corrente and Noah Herman each won their Singles matches while both Verona Doubles Teams (Will Schenkel/Matt Tuorto and Mack Kirby/Brian Farrell) were victorious.
