Essex County’s Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off today, and there’s a special event for kids on Tuesday, April 13.

The New Jersey Audubon Society is sponsoring a nature walk in Branch Brook Park for children ages 18 months to 5 years and their caregivers. The NJAS says kids will get to walk among the cherry blossoms to see how the park’s wildlife wakes from winter. The walk starts at 10 a.m. at the Essex County Cherry Blossom Visitors Center, near Mill Street in Newark.

To participate, your children should either be walking or in a carrier. The cost is $5 for NJAS members and $7 for non-members and pre-registration is required because space is limited. Contact Kelly Wenzel at 973-226-6082 to register.
