The 40th anniversary of Earth Day is coming and you can mark it by participating in events at Verona’s Recycling Center and the Essex County Environmental Center on Saturday, April 17.

First, stop by the Verona Recycling Center at 10 Commerce Court from 9 a.m. to noon and learn about what you can take out of your trash and put back to work. The Verona Environmental Commission will be giving away township recycling bins that you can use at your home or office.

Bring along your recycling–corrugated cardboard, bottles and cans, white office & computer paper, mixed paper, telephone books, brown paper bags, batteries, motor oil, electronic equipment, white goods and metal items–and sign Verona’s recycling pledge.

Then head over to the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland for its 5th Annual Earth Day Celebration. There will be “green” vendors, canoeing, hikes, beekeeping demonstrations, a 4-H Club Fair, refreshments and much more. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. [mappress]
