James V. Matulis, 86, of Toms River, formerly of Verona, died on Wednesday March 31, 2010, at his home.

A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Tuesday April 6 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Born in Newark, he lived in Verona from 1956 to 1990 before moving to Toms River. He was a truck driver for Smith Transfer in Carteret for many years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 560 of Union City, and also a veteran of WW II.

He was the husband of the late Gloria (nee Arloff) Matulis, the father of James Matulis, Marilyn Forman and her husband Floyd, Gloria Perrotta and her husband Vincent, and Alysia Hagaman and her husband Jeff. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
