The Girls Won 17-7

The Verona Girls Lacrosse team kicked off their season yesterday by routing Mount Saint Dominic Academy  17-7 at Centennial Field.  Sophomore Julieanne Mascera led the way by scoring an astonishing 6 goals.  (Is there such thing as a double hat trick?)

Junior Paige Zebrowski and senior Emily Fitzpatrick each added 2 goals of their own in the blowout.  Most of the starting lineup for Verona joined the frenzy of goals with Lindsay Bongo, Shannon Curran, DonnaJo DiNorcia, Lynn Keating, Carly Maestas, Casie Milmoe, and Tedi Rosenstein all finding the back of the net.

Verona goalkeeper Melanie McClellan guarded the net well, with 10 stops in the victory.

Along with Head Coach Suzanne Giarrusso, Senior Tri-Captains Emily Fitzpatrick, Sloane Miras and Tedi Rosenstein will lead the way moving forward as the girls hope to build off the momentum created in their first game.

On Tuesday April 6 the girls will go on the road to take on Essex County foe Montclair.
