With a great mix of new and old faces, the Hillbillies Boys’ Track Team is well rounded and extremely focused on the upcoming season.

Dave Oster, who absolutely dominated the cross country field this fall, looks to continue his success in the spring season.  He will be running in the 3200m, the 1600m, and will also be a member of the Mile Relay team.  Oster is also on his way to Syracuse University next year to continue his running career.

SUNY New Paltz-bound Dave Lukas will be sharing the long distance duties with Oster, competing alongside him in the 3200m, 1600m, and on the Mile Relay team.  Lukas won both the 1,600m and 3,200m races at the Super Essex Conference Championships this past winter.

Head Coach Sebastian Powell says, “The two Daves are both outstanding runners for us.  I really can’t say enough good things about their talent and work ethic.  They will be leading our team this year for sure.”  Along with Oster and Lukas, the Mile Relay Team is rounded out with Nick Lukas and Eddie Congdon.

In the field events, Justin Bruso and Brian Hardenberg are slated  to throw the shot-put and discus.  Senior Joel Paisner looks to pole vault for the Hillbillies with senior Zach Wizniewski running 400m Hurdles.

“We have a great group of seniors but we are also very excited about our underclassman” says Powell.  “Kweku Sapara-Grant is a very talented jumper and hurdler, Sean McGinley has been throwing the javelin well, and in his first year out, Joey Costa has shown promise in the 400.  Ryan Thomas is going to help us and sophomores Nick Lukas and Billy Meade will both contribute on the track.”

With all of these pieces in place, the upcoming season should be an exciting one.  Along with the girls, the boys’ first meet is Saturday April 3 at the Summit Relays.
